  • Eagle County Schools high school students earned 3,102 college credits in the 2006-07 school year, a savings of over $500,000 in college tuition.

  • In 2007, 56 percent of 11th and 12th graders took at least one college level class.

  • Over 80 percent of Eagle County Schools graduates in 2007 went on to attend a 2-year or 4-year college or university, versus a national average of 56 percent.

  • Over 800 Eagle County Schools high school students participate in one or more of the over 40 extra-curricular activities offered.

  • In 2006, Eagle County Schools athletes were awarded over 60 All League team positions.

  • In 2006, Eagle County Schools athletes were awarded over 20 All State team positions.

  • Ninety-five percent of Eagle County Schools kindergarteners attend school all day, thanks to donations from the Vail Valley Foundation (www.vvf.org) and a matching commitment from the Board of Education.

  • Every year, Eagle County Schools elementary children receive two days of discounted ski lessons from Vail Resorts (www.vailresorts.com).

  • Eagle County Schools employees receive a discounted season ski pass ($359 for a pass valued at over $1,700) from Vail Resorts.

  • Over 450 elementary students participate in after school enrichment programs in our schools hosted by community partners.

  • Two Eagle County High School Seniors were named National Merit Scholarship Finalists in 2006.

  • Three Eagle County High School Seniors graduated in 2006 with Associates Degrees from Colorado Mountain College, in addition to receiving High School diplomas.

  • Nearly 50 percent of the class of 2006 started kindergarten in Eagle County Schools.

  • Over 60 percent of 2006 graduates enrolled in one or more college-level classes last year.

  • Over 50 percent of the class of 2006 had grade point averages of 3.0 or higher and nearly 15 percent had grade point averages of 4.0 or higher.

  • BusinessWeek recognized the Teacher Advancement Program (TAP) as one of the TOP 10 innovative school reform measures (BusinessWeek Online, June 26, 2006).

  • The 2007 17th Annual Wild West Days was another huge success, raising over $150,000 for our Elementary Schools!

  • The U.S. Department of Education announced that Eagle County Schools was awarded a $6.7 million Teacher Incentive Fund (TIF) grant to provide financial incentives to teachers who improve student achievement in high-poverty schools.
