How is teacher performance measured under this system?

The Teacher Advancement Program measures teacher performance and student learning in three ways:

1. Teacher Skills, Knowledge and Responsibilities

Every teacher is evaluated four times during the year using a performance appraisal adopted by the Board of Education.  Two of these evaluations are scheduled and two are unannounced.  Principal ratings are weighted at 50%, Master teacher evaluations at 25% and Mentor teacher evaluations at 25%.

This evaluation accounts for 50% of bonus pool with the maximum possible award - $1,300

2. Schoolwide Achievement

Annual CSAP scores are used to measure the overall building scale score for GROWTH over a year’s time.  This is used to monitor and evaluate schoolwide student achievement.

This evaluation accounts for 25% of bonus pool with maximum award - $650

3. Individual Achievement

Student GROWTH on the NWEA is measured in a fall/spring comparison. Students are linked to teachers in each building who teach math, reading and writing.  Using a value-added calculation, each student’s growth is tracked over time to show gains made above their historical growth and other students’ nationally normed performance.

This evaluation accounts for 25% of bonus pool with maximum award - $650
