Is it true that teachers are making less money now than they were before TAP?
To answer this question, the first five TAP buildings were analyzed since they have the longest history. Career teachers who are meeting student growth and evaluation expectations are making on average 9 percent more than under the lock step schedule when bonus and salary increases are included.
Salary increase alone for this group was 1.2 percent higher than the lock step increase. The highest performers in each building are making on average 11 percent more than under the lock step schedule when bonus and salary increases are included. Salary increase alone for this group was 2.2 percent higher than the lock step schedule. Even the lowest performers were making 5.4 percent more when bonuses were included but are making on average .3 percent less when looking at salary increases only.
