Why would you take your best teachers out of the classroom to be Master and Mentor teachers?

by Brooke Skjonsby last modified March 20, 2006 11:38 AM

The very best teachers throughout the district can have a greater impact on the achievement of all students by sharing best teaching practices and coaching with other teachers so that all our teachers’ skills are improved.

The actual time out of the classroom is limited.  The Master teacher will teach approximately 30% of each day and the Mentor teacher will teach approximately 70% of each day.

A highly qualified licensed teacher is working in the Master/Mentor classrooms during their release time guided by curriculum plans provided by the Master/Mentor.  Many schools have arranged their schedules so that children are receiving Specials (art, music, PE) during the time that the Master/Mentor is out of the room.
