Above are copies of the guidelines for this year’s contest. Please read the Poster Specification section carefully. All posters that are submitted for the ECSD, State and National Contest must comply with the national guidelines. Contestants must illustrate above theme only, and the theme must be exactly as shown above. Posters that do not comply with the national standards will not be considered.
Our district had wonderful success last year with with a several winners at the state level, and we would like to see one or more of our student’s posters hanging on the wall at workshop again this year!
Students may draw posters through April 26, 2013. The posters must be in one of the five divisions mentioned below. Send your posters to:
Transportation Department

The Transportation Department should receive the posters no later than Friday April 26, 2013.
Students in the following categories are eligible to compete:
Division #1 - Grades K-2
Division #2 - Grades 3-5
Division #3 - Grades 6-8
Division #4 - CAD (Computer Aided Drafting) – All Grades
Criteria for Selection

Relationship of the poster to school bus safety practices.

Originality of the poster and how the idea is expressed in the poster design.

Artwork and its execution.
-
Visual impact of the poster design.
ECSD School Bus Drivers will vote for the best poster in each division. Winners will have the highest cumulative votes in each category.
Prizes
-
1st place winners will receive a $50 gift card.
-
2nd place a $25 gift card.
-
3rd place winners will receive 2 movie tickets.
-
Computer generated category will receive 2 movie tickets.
Divisions #1 though #3 - 1st place winners will be on display for the District Office Staff to choose a Grand Prize overall winner. The winner will receive a $100.00 gift card and an Art Studio Set with Easel for the winning poster!
Winners will be invited to an awards ceremony in their respective school during the month of May.
Colorado State Poster Contest
ECSD will then enter all four 1st Place winning posters (including the overall winner) into the Colorado state competition held in June of 2012. All posters will be judged by members of the CSPTA and Colorado Department of Education (Transportation Unit) during the annual CDE School Bus Training Week in June. Prizes will be awarded to the first place through third place poster in each Division from the State of Colorado. The first place poster in each division will be submitted to The National School Bus Safety Week Committee for national competition.
All district entries become the property of CSPTA School Bus Safety Poster Contest Committee.
National Poster Contest
Entries in the national contest are from the first place winners in all divisions from each state. These state winners are judged by a national board of judges, comprised of prominent individuals in the field of pupil transportation safety. The national winners will be selected at the National Association for Pupil Transportation (NAPT) annual conference in November. All state/province entries become the property of the National School Bus Safety Week Committee. The right to modify any poster for reproduction is reserved by the NSBSW Committee.
