The Eagle County Charter Academy is a unique charter school that brings parents, students and staff together in a rich, extended learning environment to create students who are respectful, responsible, accountable learners and contributors to the community.
ECCA opened during the 1994-1995 school year and was granted the second charter in the state of Colorado. Oringinaly, ECCA started with 64 middle school students in grades 5 - 7, but this number quickly expanded during the 1995 - 1996 school year to encompass 128 students in grades 5 - 8.
ECCA expanded into a primary school and by the 2001 - 02 academic year, had 256 students in grades 1 - 8. In 2004, ECCA added Kindergarten and the school now served a total of 292 students in grades K - 8.

All teachers at ECCA develop and implement their own rigorous curricula, based on Colorado State Content Standards and Benchmarks, yet teachers are also given the flexibility to be innovative regarding their particular instructional style.
ECCA has been recognized as a John Irwin School of Excellence since the inception of the award and now has nine School of Excellence banners.
Paramount to our school is the consistent emphasis on character development for all students K-8 with "Hawk Honors" awards presented to outstanding students in the areas of growth, work, respect, camaraderie, integrity and leadership during a special celebration each trimester.
