Math- Science Partnership Grant: Eagle County Schools (ECS) was awarded $350,000 per year for three years to provide professional development for math teachers. This Colorado Department of Education (CDE) award, with funding coming from the U.S. Department of Education, was given to ECS in collaboration with the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Education (STEME) unit at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS) and the Consortium on Reading Excellence (CORE), based in Berkeley, California. The ECS Math Partnership program will randomize selected teachers to participate during the three years of the project. The project is designed to increase teacher knowledge and instructional practices specific to mathematics, increase student math achievement, enhance teacher professional learning communities related to math, and increase collaboration among ECS and its higher education partners. Professional development provided by the ECS partners will be delivered monthly to all randomly selected teachers and integrated into continuing professional development provided within our district. ECS was among only a few districts in the state awarded this Math Partnership grant.
We are currently in Year 3 of the Math Science Partnership Grant.
