Performance-Based Compensation

by Brooke Skjonsby last modified January 24, 2007 10:15 AM

Teacher compensation in Eagle County is based solely on performance in the classroom and financially rewards top teachers. Teachers who qualify for a performance award are paid a lump sum bonus on their final check of the contract year. Depending on state funding for K-12 education, that bonus or a portion of it is then added to the teacher’s salary. Performance awards are determined by 50 percent teacher skills and knowledge demonstrated by evaluation scores, 25 percent individual student achievement demonstrated by NWEA/MAP value-added growth and 25 percent school wide achievement demonstrated by CSAP value-added growth.
