Can individual schools, grade levels or content areas utilize some of the training dollars available for customized professional development efforts intended to increase student achievement?
A component of the Teacher Incentive Fund grant was written to “differentiate contracts for core subject teachers to increase training and instructional planning time.” Details on this aspect of the grant are currently being finalized and are to be announced during Phase III on February 22, 2007. The Directors of Elementary and Secondary Education have assembled subcommittees to meet and develop a plan for the use of the differentiated contract days.
