It is my understanding that Masters and Mentors are given release time to perform their duties in the course of the school day...

so they are performing these special duties instead of in addition to what regular classroom teachers do everyday, so other than reporting to work earlier and working additional days each school year, why should they receive this substantial additional stipend in comparison to their colleagues?

We believe that teachers who accept additional responsibility as instructional leaders deserve additional compensation. The responsibilities of Master and Mentor teachers includes the development and presentation of new instructional strategies, the coaching and evaluation of peers, and the leadership of weekly Cluster meetings.
