Communication Services
Eagle County School Districts' Communications Department is responsible for fostering awareness, understanding, and support for the district's schools, students, and staff.

What We Do
We strive to engage our parents, staff, students, and community with essential information about the district, our strategic plan, and our challenges as they arise. We reach out to the community through our website, our Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube accounts, plus connect directly through special events and community events. We maintain supporting partnerships with area non-profits who provide essential services and outreach to the community. We also act as a community liaison between departments, schools, parents and the public, assist print and broadcast journalists, as well as provide media advice to district schools and staff.

Media Requests
It is Eagle County Schools’ policy for all news media inquiries regarding the district, departments or school sites to be referred to the Communications Department to ensure the most timely and accurate response. Please call 970 328-4806.

Open Records Requests
The Colorado Open Records Act (CORA) is a series of laws designed to allow the public access to the records of government agencies at all levels in Colorado, including schools districts. Most records are public and open for inspection. Two notable exceptions are student records and portions of personnel files. To learn more about CORA, please view the Colorado Attorney General's FAQ.

For student records, please contact your child's school. The confidentiality of academic records are protected by the Family Educational Rights to Privacy Act (FERPA) and are not subject to CORA.

All open records requests should be submitted directly to Communication Services. There is no requirement for any particular format for the request. We ask that you submit the request in writing via email or postal mail. Please be as specific as possible about the information you are seeking to help ensure that we are able to respond to your request accurately and in the time required by law.

The information you are seeking may be available on our website. If you are looking for financial records, please visit our Financial Transparency and Budget pages before submitting your request.

The Open Records Act only makes existing written information within the government available to the public. It does not require an agency or other government organization involved to create new records to respond to a request. It also does not require the government to manipulate or analyze information to respond to a request.

There may be a fee associated with fulfilling requests for a large number of records to cover the costs of redaction of confidential information, or for requests involving extensive digital or electronic data, of up to $30 per hour of staff time, .25 cents per paper copy and .50 cents per CD. You will be notified in advance of any fees and must pay in advance.
